My latest rampage is directed at certain comments. The misguided notions of some that have convinced themselves they are being "realistic" about Taker's injuries and what effect they will have the remainder of his career. How they came to their conclusions. Simple take his recent bout of problems and add one person saying Taker's current injuries have caused McMahon to re evaluate Mark Callaway's contract. That he will return in November as The old Undertaker and fight his last match at Survivor Series. Retirement rumors have surrounded The Undertaker for ages every time he disappears. Now that he has updated his persona and the original kayfabe has been blasted into oblivion, the public has become more privy to The Undertaker's physical status. So once an injury to The Phenom is reported, mostly unconfirmed, the slapnuts and some of his fans damn him to the old wrestlers home. So the big guy has had a rough 12 months. The first time in his 14/15 year career he's had such significant issues, and certain folks jump up and down his career is over. Or should be. Last September he goes down with a pulled groin. He was suffering from that for a while before the WWF finally gave him time off. He was the only major heel last year, and was forced to carry a huge work load. That is until HHH became the established mega heel. One big problem in 10 months out of 12 month year. Not bad considering how hard he was pushing. Rumor had it he was ready to come back, but the WWF was telling him no. OK, fine. Then it happened. A work out related ACCIDENT. A torn pec muscle requiring surgery delayed his return 4 months. He re- emerged to what should be comeback of the year, we know that will go to Asstin. He stayed in the game for five months as the second biggest face the WWF had. He suffered a hyper extended elbow but worked through that. A minor pulled groin, different from his previous torn groin, occurs. Since SA was back, there was no need to keep UT around, so he took off. He would have been back by now or on his way back when he has a MEDICAL EMERGENCY. Gall Stones. Another three week wait or Taker to grace the ring with his presence. What's my gripe? The way some people are reacting towards this. Now, the Internet "reporters" for all their faults, at least have UT coming back. I guess there is not much one can say once Jim Ross comes out with it. But because of this one F wad (credit Cenny)and people are examining their stand point on The American Bad Ass' future. Damn, he can't have an accident and a medical emergency within five months of each other? Both incidents totally out of his control. He can't have freak incidents? They could have happened to ANYONE. Both with no bearing on his wrestling. We saw him execute chokeslams and powerbombs on men of varying weights with no adverse effect on the operated pectoral muscle. Some soreness, but that subsided in time. Once he is fully healed, which according to our resident nurse, Takersrose, should only take a few days. Depending on the person that is. UT will be out for the next three weeks. Hell's Bells, he wasn't going to be at No Mercy anyway. Even if he wasn't injured I bet. There was no place for him on the card, unless he was going against Lame. Or was going to do a run in. I don't get it. What do these people want from Mark Callaway? It's almost like they think if he is not the invincible Undertaker, he shouldn't be wrestling anymore. Shouldn't the important thing be he is taking care of himself? Yes, I admit, it doesn't look good to have so many problems. Surely the man has doubts if his comeback was the right thing. But my lord, they make it seem like he is the only one. UT is not entitled to hard times? No one else in history has had injuries come all at once? Oddly enough, the torn pec and gall stones happened when he wasn't wrestling, and once healed, don't get in the way. It's fine to not think anything of it when Asstin gets a new injury every other month. Or gets sick over and over. All this resulting in more time off then he spends wrestling. And he does not need to retire? These people cannot even give Callaway the benefit of the doubt. It is stuff like that which leads Jim Ross to say stuff like "Don't count UT out because when he is 100% healthy, he is special." Some of the comments may come out of concern, but as I said before, two of the issues won't effect his wrestling. Leaving the groin tear and pull. Two incidents in one year, one worse then the other, and one that is probably almost healed by now. A minor, very common surgery. He will stay out for two reasons I can see. 1. precaution. Get him nice and healed. We see the amazing results when UT goes on his sabaticals. 2. There is nothing for him to do until after No mercy when the WWF starts his next fued. There is on air, non wrestling roles for him to fill, but perhaps the WWF or Mark Callaway doesn't want to do it. Not real bad when one thinks about it, and not cause for the retirement rumors. All and all, this doesn't seem any different then what we have seen him go through before. A problem area acts up. He can add his groin to his knees and hips to those problem areas. He had an unforseen medical emergency following it. If one reflects on a message left by Dorothy, three weeks isn't that long off. No Mercy is in 15 days. There is two out of three weeks right there. Then the week after No Mercy. My mother's boss is right, the masses are asses. And if anyone should know, it's him. He is one of the biggest asses of all. Well, him and Meltzer are tied right about now.
