Deadman90 (Forum Moderator) 08/28/00 10:31 AM IP Address: 24.128.190.210 SummerSlam Edition -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some thoughts on the rest of Summerslam before I get the reason why I am here, The Undertaker. Once again the WWF is catering to the blood thirsty masses. I'm talking about the TLC match and Shane's 70/75 foot fall. Was all that really neccesary to make this Summerslam a great event? It sure as hell wasn't, but because of the bigger is better mentality of a lot fans the WWF has put both wrestlers and non wrestlers (Shane, Stephanie, and some valets)in very dangerous situations. Situations they shouldn't even be in. The type of situations that cost Owen Hart his life over a year ago. There is people who would say I just don't GET IT. But I do. I just got bored by it a long time ago. This whole hardcore aspect is an over done concept. We basically see the same thing over and over but just more dangerous. I see nothing great about that. We have already seen people get put through tables. We have already seen falls from high heights. We have already seen people fall from ladders. With viewers already seeing it, they become jaded to it. Forcing these athletes to then try to one up that last time. That is not an occupational hazard or risk they accept that I would normally defend. Sadly, for newer talent, it is becoming one. Funny how the WWF asked certain wrestlers not to perform some moves at all or very rarely, but they go and ask their talent to take bumps like we witnessed last night. Perhaps all it will take is a shift in the fans interest to change some things. Hopefully that will happen before strings of serious injuries, paralysis, or even the death of an even more loved superstar then Owen Hart. I have heard it said that one of the reasons The Undertaker doesn't use his deadman gimmick anymore is because he simply can't. They are right. The man even kind of said it himself. I would much rather admit to that, see Taker go on as the American Bad Ass, and do well with what he can do then to put him into situations like he used to be but more dangerous. He hasn't totally abandoned all aspects of the deadman gimmick. He still needs to take a multiple man beating to keep him down. Of course to fit the new attitude, the attacks are portrayed a much more brutal. So he still takes his bumps. We have already seen violence, so sex must be lurking around the corner. Hey, look at that Terri V Kat in the first ever thong stink face match. WWF style soft core porn. Let's see there was sex. There was violence, what could be left? Ah yes, the hype. Three thoughts here. 1. This furthered the HHH/Angle fued. The two were meant to be mainevent. 2. Crock was only involved because as the biggest fad in wrestling right now, WWF champion, and with no feud it, would have disappointed a lot of people to see Crock not defend his title or to defend it in the match before mainevent. Or not show at all 3. Angle was only added to this to distract people's attention from the fact it was Preperation H V The Peon's Chump. AGAIN. A sign things need to change. On to The Phenom. Brother V Brother. Taker and Lame. Was this a match or a skit off of Raw. There was never a bell to begin the match. There was never a bell to end the match. There was never any announcement of a no DQ stipulation so Jack Doan let a lot go for a match. Lame was never pinned, just embarassed. LOL. Good. So not only has Taker beaten Lame, he has humiliated him too. It seems as soon as The Big Red Retard rolled out of the ring, "American Bad ass" cued up. So there was not an official count out. I could go into the Batman like questions that one needs to stay tuned to get answered, but folks I could give a damn less if we ever see lame's face. I really don't care if these are signs his gimmick is changing. Nor do I care what Lame will do tonight. All I care is that the WWF starts winding this down since it is only a quick solution to make up for Wight's problems, and places The Undertaker in a GOOD, high profile feud leading him to the WWF title. UT/Lame may continue for a bit longer until they place The Undertaker. Unless the move Taker on as soon as tonight. But Since lame has no fued, this could be stretched out somemore. This match was a fast patch to assure that Taker and Kane were at the biggest event of the summer. I am glad this was not hyped to much since there was not much to it. What did one expect from something that did not have the benefit from months worth of planning. Damn tennis is pre empting Raw a solid two hours tonight. So, tune in next time. Same bad ass time, same bad ass channel for the next installement of The Last Ride.
